Glitter

So yesterday, Michaila and Lizz brought home three pairs of plain shoes, three cans of glitter, and a can of spray adhesive and said to me "We are going to make glittery shoes!"  And that is just what we did!

Making the shoes was a lot of fun, but the really fun part was the clean-up process.  Laughter was everywhere, and so was three different colors of glitter! It was a party on the porch!

We got the broom out to sweep up the glitter, but of course, these crazies had other plans.

When the glitter was swept into a nice pile, we discovered that Lizz had glued these horseshoes into our porch.  I guess we have glittery good luck from now on!

Just A Little Post

I am just writing a little post to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about Pop's birthday post, I still haven't located my camera cord...

I have also been a little sick and lazy these past couple days.  It has been raining outside and just yucky, and that is how my mood has been for the most part.

In better news, Sydney, my good friend from school who battles Ataxia, and I finally made a Facebook page dedicated to helping her with her greatest wishes in life.  We have already been contacted by a wonderful film producer in Hollywood who graduated from Rosewood, the same school as us, and has family back home in Goldsboro, NC.

Lacey Sleeps Over

Saturday night I had Lacey over to spend the night and do girly things without any of her brothers or sisters.

It was just me and her all day Saturday, until Jordan got home around 8:30pm.

We painted fingernails, played board games, watched Disney Channel, and had Bagel Bites for lunch, Lacey showed me her cartwheel (amazing recovery from her procedure the day before), and we played on the computer and the Kindle Fire until Jordan got home.  I even let Lacey webchat with Savannah, which was pretty adorable.  They are the same age and I really think they could have talked for hours! I have got to get them together in person sometime.

When Jordan got home,  we had Digiorno pepperoni pizza for dinner, played Disney Scene It, and fell asleep on the couches watching The Lorax!

Pop's Birthday - Preview

So Friday was Jordan's grandfather's birthday.  We all call him "Pop".   He turned 65, and we celebrated by going out to dinner at Logan's and having ice cream cake and gifts back and Nanny and Pop's house.

I took some pictures on my new camera that Nanny and Pop gave me for Christmas, but I can't seem to find my SD card adapter to be able to get the pictures uploaded onto my computer.  It has to be in our room somewhere, but I rearranged after Christmas, so there is no telling where it is.  I'll probably just get a new one when Jordan and I go to WalMart in the morning.

Anyway, so I got one picture with my phone.

So here is Pop, right before we left to go to dinner.  I will post the rest of the pictures and all about Friday night tomorrow.  Until then, happy blog belated birthday Pop!

Valentine's Makeover

I am so excited about Valentine's Day that I already did my Valentine's Blog Makeover.

I love all of the cute, girly colors that come with Valentine's Day, and the hearts all over everything, and just the overall holiday itself.

Now I know some of you reading this might hate Valentine's Day for whatever reason; maybe you had your heart broken, or you've never had a Valentine, or you just think it's a marketing holiday, but come on, get happy! Even if you think you don't have a Valentine, you DO! Jesus loves you, no matter what! He will always be your Valentine and everything else you need!

I have even already bought my box of Valentine Cards to write out for the Bead Buddies and all of my family and friends here and home in NC.  I am also crazy in the way that I have started buying little things for Jordan and hiding them around the room!

Then again, I am the same girl that Christmas shops in August and September and I might also be that girl that just can't wait until Thanksgiving to put the tree up...

ANYWAY, Happy EARLY Valentine's Day, y'all!

Lunch With Lacey

Michaila's boyfriend, James, has four siblings. He has three younger sisters, and one younger brother.

One of his little sisters, Lacey, had to have an outpatient procedure yesterday due to her kidney problems.

The doctors discovered two growths on one of Lacey's kidneys that had to be tested, so they removed some of them and sent them in for biopsy.

When Lacey was finished, her mom, Mrs Heather, asked my MIL and I to pick Michaila and James up from school and meet them at El Rodeo, our favorite Mexican restaurant, to surprise Lacey for lunch.

We decided to stop and get a bag of goodies for Lacey as well, so I went inside and picked out things I knew she would like, and we packed the gift bag in the car on the way to El Rodeo.  We even got her a balloon.

Lacey is 9, the same age as my little sister, Savannah, and she is so sweet.

I have Lacey over at our house with me tonight for a sleepover all about her while my in-laws are out of town and some of her family is as well.  I am doing basically whatever she wants tonight, and it's pretty fun!  It makes me miss my sister even more, though, I guess because they are the same age.  We video chatted with Savannah earlier, and that was fun, but I digress, that's all another post!

The point of this one is to ask anyone reading this to say a little prayer for Lacey.  Please pray that this sweet girl's biopsy results come back clear of any heartbreaking news, and that doctors are enlightened on what to do about her current kidney issues.

Emma's Clinic Appointment, 1-10-13

This past Thursday, Jordan and I spent the day with Emma, Michelle, and baby Kaleb.  

Emma was scheduled for a "long day" at clinic, which means she had to have an IVIG.  Emma's IVIG always takes about 3 hours, and before they can even begin the IVIG drip they have to access Emma's port, draw her labs, have her visit with her doctor, and give her some IV Benadryl. This particular visit, they also had to give her a flu shot and some Tylenol. 

Emma had to be there at 9am, and we got there around 10.  Her port was accessed at about 11, and, finally, by 12:30pm, Emma's IVIG drip was started.  While we waited for the IVIG to start, we did some puzzles and colored some pictures, and played with a new friend, Terran.  

Terran is turning 3 at the end of this month, and he is also fighting ALL, just like Emma! Terran was diagnosed on Father's Day, and his treatment plan is longer than Emma's because he is a boy.  He and Jordan had a lot of fun playing with army men and helicopters while Emma and I did puzzles.

Terran's chemo drip was started right before Emma's IVIG, and he crawled into his mother's lap, and Emma crawled up in mine. Jordan had gone home to get money for the late lunch we planned for when Emma was done, so Michelle and I had a good conversation with Terran's mom and dad about the Toby's Dream Foundation and Emma's dream come true trip to Disney and Sea World, and Terran and Emma's diagnosis stories, etc.. and before long both kids were asleep.

I laid Emma down in one of the big chairs, and she was OUT! 

This lasted around 45 minutes, but in that time, Terran's chemo was finished and his parents took him home.  Emma crawled back in my lap and we watched Cinderella III: A Twist in Time on the clinic TV.  

Jordan came back and Emma was hungry, so I pushed her IV pole behind her to the snack room.  We got some crackers and Teddy Grahams and circled around the clinic for another coloring book.  When we got back to our spot, we ate and colored and watched Disney Channel.  By then it was going on 3:30 and, besides Emma, there was only one child left in the clinic.  This little boy had a loose tooth and was really concerned about getting it out so that the Tooth Fairy would come.

Emma went over to him and told him about how she lost a tooth at Disney World and they talked for a few minutes, and then, finally, Emma's IVIG was finished. Both of the kids' IV poles beeped at about the same time, so the nurses came over to unhook them, and Emma had her port de-accessed..

When we finally left CHKD it was a little after 4pm.  We headed over to iHop for our late lunch, and I got some adorable pictures of Emma and Kaleb.

We had an awesome day Thursday with Emma and some of her family, and it was awesome meeting Terran and his family.  Actually, there's something really neat about meeting Terran.  Over the summer I worked as a photographer in Virginia Beach at a PictureMe.  During my interview I told my manager about Awareness Beads.  In turn, Gina, the manager, told me about another associate at one of our sister studios who's son had just been diagnosed with Leukemia.  I didn't realize until we got home and added Terran's mom on Facebook, but his mom was that associate! So all these months later I finally meet Terran after knowing about him for so long! It was an awesome discovery.

After we parted ways with Michelle, Emma, and Kaleb at iHop, Jordan and I did a little shopping and spent the evening together.  I love his days off.
