Meeting Abbi

So a couple posts ago I mentioned that Jordan and I would be meeting a new Bead Buddy.

We met Abbi yesterday, and she is amazing.

Before the visit, we prepared some gifts for Abbi and her little sister, Maylee.

Here are the gifts we took for Abbi and Maylee.  A hand-made card, a stuffed puppy for each girl, and our bead kit so that Abbi could make some Awareness Beads.

It took sweet Abbi a little while to warm up to us, but after a walk around the floor and a few minutes of conversation, she came over to us and started making her bracelets.  That's when we got these:

Starting to check out the beads...
 ...picking some out...
 ...stringing them on and...
making a bracelet!

After working on her bracelet for a little while, Abbi really wanted to go downstairs.  Her mom wrapped her "tubies" up on her IV pole, Abbi hopped on (she fits on the IV pole perfectly to go for a ride!), and we ventured to the first floor of CHKD.  We went into the cafeteria and Abbi bought her very own chips! Such a big girl and very smart!  These pictures are of the elevator ride downstairs, and the ride back up!

When we got back upstairs, Abbi and I finished working on her bracelet.  While we did that, Jordan was working on a project of his own.  He wouldn't tell us what he was making, but he was taking a long time!

This is the best picture Jordan could get of Abbi and I.  She was a mover and a shaker and not exactly down for a photo shoot! I still love this picture.  It shows that we were having a good time.

Abbi picked out most of the beads for this bracelet, and I helped her organize them to make the finished product! It is a very pretty and unique set of Awareness Beads.

Finally, Jordan finished his little project.  Abbi became the first Bead Buddy to receive "IV Beads", a fun decoration to personalize the forced accessories that IV poles are.

A close up of Abbi's IV Beads.  Jordan had a great idea with these!

All in all, we had a great time with Abbi, and with her mom, Holly.  The parents and siblings, and whole families of our Bead Buddies are heroes too.  Holly is a super mom, and we look forward to seeing her and Abbi again, as well as meeting Abbi's dad, Erich, and little sister, Maylee.

This is my favorite picture of Abbi from our day together.  She is a precious child, and so very smart, brave, and extremely resilient.  You see, Abbi is just 2 years old (she'll be 3 in February), and her cancer (Neuroblastoma) is all over her.  Holly was brave enough to share with us that the cancer is in Abbi's bone marrow, there is a tumor blanketing part of her spine, and one in her skull that is nearly pushing on her brain.  Abbi and her family need our hopes and prayers for the long road ahead.  I have faith that Abbi will beat this monster, and I know that there are millions of prayer warriors out there that will agree with me.  So to join Abbi's team and help her beat cancer, please follow her progress and leave some words of encouragement by walking down Abbi's Road on Facebook.  Here are the links: PageGroup

We are so truly blessed and thankful to get to know Abbi and her mom, and we can't wait to spend more time with her and meet the rest of her family.  We are on your team Abbi, you will not walk this road alone.

Shine Bright,
<3 Stormy
